Private day-trip with local tour guide in the Asti and Monferrato area, where the hills produce the third great jewel of the local wine-making scenario, Barbera d’Asti, and the unique black and white truffles (black truffles from February to September, white truffles from mid September to early January). Tour Highlights:
Meet truffle hunter near Asti to enjoy a unique experience that is worth to remember. Discover everything about truffles: local traditions, growth environment, overview of truffle varieties and characteristics. A guided tour with the “trifulao” (truffle hunter) and his dog will follow in the natural truffle grounds, so that you may experience a real “truffle picking” along a scenic trail. To finish with… truffle tasting! A fresh black or white truffle will be shaved on a local cheese and enjoyed with some salami and wine.
Visit the city of Asti which still preserves a pleasant medieval atmosphere: medieval towers, gothic churches, baroque buildings and old squares. Tour on foot of the historic city centre followed by some time free for shopping along the main street and in the weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays).
Visit a Barbera d’Asti* producer. Barbera, a fine violet red-coloured and highly acidic wine, is being considered the third great “B” of Piedmont after Barolo and Barbaresco. Visit a winery in the Monferrato region and enjoy a final wine-tasting (as an alternative, visit to a Barbaresco producer). * As an alternative, we may visit a Barbaresco producer
